B-Boy Championships

Roxrite (USA)

A colossal competitor on the world scene, Red Bull BC One All Star RoxRite is destined to be the B-Boy with the most victories, with a goal of 100 B-Boy titles from around the world. He added Red Bull BC One World Champion title to his repertoire in 2011, in Moscow. “I want to be THAT B-Boy,” he says, “the one who won the most battles.”

Omar O. Delgado Macias, aka RoxRite, was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, but later moved with his family to California. He started dancing at the age of 12.

Among RoxRite's highest-profile wins are Pro Am 2004, UK B-Boy Championships 2005, R16 Korea 2009, Euro Battle 2009, Freestyle Session World Finals 2009, 2013 and 2014. With his vast variety of moves, repetition is never an issue for this battle-hardened, West Coast B-Boy.

He got his B-Boy name, RoxRite, through his friend Ground Level in 1996, who noticed that he "rocked right." A strategic battle B-Boy, he takes everything into consideration from footwork to power moves to freezes. When he goes first, he immediately attacks with strength, so it's hard for the opponent to respond. For RoxRite, being a great B-Boy comes from the heart and foremost means being a good person.

With his vast variety of moves, repetition will never be an issue with this battle hardened, West Coast B-Boy. RoxRite has an almost unnatural ability to stick freeze combinations and he puts a unique twist on all his moves. Some call him the cleanest B-Boy out there – he has his moves down and it's rare to see him fall out of a move. Being one of the world's best B-Boys, he still is a humble person and very respected in the community. For RoxRite, being a good B-Boy comes from the heart and foremost means being a good person.

His main strategy is simply to do more than the other B-Boy does, in whatever field. The way he dresses is important, too. "You've got to respect yourself as an artist and treat yourself that way."
As far as skills go, discipline is his key to success. Ground Level was his first big inspiration, but Thunder, Remind and Ken Swift have influence him too.

Apart from dancing, RoxRite is interested in photography and video editing. He lives the life of a B-Boy and breaking has kept him focused through the ups and downs of his life. He embraces the whole culture of Hip Hop, because he feels that it teaches you how to live a positive life. He tried graffiti as well, but for now wants to focus on dancing and staying at the top.

In 2007, RoxRite made it to the finals of the Red Bull BC One South Africa World Final, where he then lost four times to Ronnie. Still hungry for this battle, RoxRite back in 2011 and finally took the title.

When asked how being both a Red Bull BC One All Star and World Champion changed his life, he says: "Every year seems to get better and better for me. I live my dream and it's a blessing. I have judged numerous events around the world and have been teaching more then ever. I am very busy, always on the road. Many things have changed, except for my dance: I still feel driven to improve and come up with new stuff. My plan is to survive living through this art form and push to compete."

He says that from childhood on, many people dream of getting an opportunity such as becoming a B-Boy. Kids who dream of playing football, dream of being part of a team and playing in a championship one day have a similar goal. "Red Bull BC One is OUR Championship. It's our Super Bowl, our NBA Finals, and I am proud to be the champion!" he says.
